TAKALO

Johanna Takalo is a lyric coloratura soprano from Finland. She graduated from the Sibelius Academy opera master’s programme in May 2023. She also has a degree in music pedagogy from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

She has experience in performing opera, lied, dance, musical theatre, church music as well as pop music. Her opera roles include Queen of the night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Adele in J. Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, Erestrial in J. Linkola’s Minnan Taivas, Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone and Lisetta in Rossini’s La Gazzetta among others. She has performed with Finnish orchestras such as Oulu Symphony Orchestra, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and Pori Sinfonietta singing coloratura arias such as “Oú va la jeune Indoue” from Delibe’s Lakmé, “Ah non credea..Ah non giunge” from Bellini’s La Sonnambula and “O luce di quest’ anima” from Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix. 

She began her musical journey very young. Already as a little girl she wanted to be a singer, dancer and actor. She joined a musical theatre group at the age of 12 and started taking voice lessons a few years later. She also danced classical ballet determinedly until she was about 18 years old. Today she is a versatile performer with excellent stage performance skills. In addition to her classical vocal training she has vocal skills in musical theatre and pop music styles.
